1. China celebrates 14th National Fitness Day
A variety of sporting events and fitness programs were held across China to promote a healthy lifestyle on Aug. 8, the 14th National Fitness Day.
2. Wu Lei returns to Shanghai Port
Spanish La Liga club Espanyol confirmed that Chinese international striker Wu Lei is leaving the club to return to China. The 30-year-old will join Shanghai Port, where he played before moving to Spain and scored 151 goals in 296 league appearances.
3. Zheng Qinwen reaches her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal
China's rising star Zheng Qinwen reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinals after beating former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 at the National Bank Open in Toronto.
4. 2022 BRICS Games to be held online in September
Athletes from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will compete online at the 2022 BRICS Games, which are to be held from September 1 to 30. The 2022 BRICS Games features breakdancing, chess and Wushu (Chinese martial arts) as medal events and yoga, dragon and lion dance, dragon boat racing, Brazil jiu-jitsu, sambo and dibeke as demonstration events.
5. Chinese Football Association (CFA) looks into suspicion of match-fixing in U15 game
The game under investigation was played between Guangzhou and Qingyuan in the under-15 men's final of the Guangdong Provincial Games on Sunday, in which several Qingyuan players looked unusually sluggish between the 68th and 81st minutes, allowing the opposition to score four goals in a 13-minute span to win 5-3.
6. Beijing Guoan FC head coach Xie Feng resigns
