Former Springbok coach Allister Coetzee has been linked with a move to Italian club Rovigo Delta.

Coetzee, who coached the Boks in 2016 and 2017, has not held a head coach position since he parted way with Japanese outfit Canon Eagles last year.

With it now confirmed that Umberto Casellato will be leaving Rovigo, reports out of Italy this week suggested that Coetzee had emerged as a possible replacement and that he was expected to arrive in the country shortly to familiarise himself with the club.

Then, on Sunday, Afrikaans newspaper Rapport reported that Coetzee had been offered the job and that he needed to make a decision.

Rovigo, the report adds, headhunted Coetzee for the job.

If Coetzee does accept the role, he will become the third former Springbok coach to coach Rovigo.

The others were Nelie Smith (1986 to 1989) and Nick Mallett (1984 to 1985).
