2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour postponed due to Covid-19

  • The Cape Town Cycle Tour organiser have announced the postponement of the event.
  • A revised version of the tour was scheduled for March 2021.
  • It will now take place later in the year but the date is still to be confirmed.

As a result of the second wave of Covid-19 infections in South Africa, the organisers of the 2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour have decided to postpone a revised version of the event, which was tentatively scheduled for March 2021.

In a statement released to the media on Monday, the organisers confirmed that due to current circumstances, "the hosting of a mass participation event in any format untenable for the immediate future."

The Cape Town Cycle Tour will now be held at a later date in 2021 which is still to be confirmed.

The 2020 event was held in March just before the first wave of the pandemic took hold in the country.

The men's race was won by Travis Barrett while Cherise Willeit won the ladies race.
